But I will take the opportunity to post this video:
Which always make me think of Jeremy – we did see you in a performance of Chess at ADFA, right?
But I digress. We spent two nights in Bangkok on the weekend, which was a nice break. Living in Yangon has made me see Bangkok in a completely new light – it seems so clean and developed and well-ordered and shiny.
Highlights included:
- taxis with seatbelts (occasionally), and meters
- highways that worked (and cars that stayed mostly on the correct side)
- spicy hotel buffet breakfasts
Lowlights included:
- being slightly confused about how to hail taxis when they are not all actively trying to pick you up
- a much higher level of humidity (I assume this is coming to Yangon, it just hasn’t yet)
- a more confusing exchange rate (leading to some potentially not-such-a-bargain purchases)
And now in photo form.
This is great. I like how the Japanese seasoning fair sign will help you when you are ‘cooking yourself’ … mmm, I’m delicious.*
*I realise I am in no position to be ridiculing mis-translation at this point in my life.
Yes, Jeremy was in chess. I know it was a brilliant performance, but I’m amazed you remember.
Esther, you’ll never look back!
